The house

A low white house behind a clipped hedge, palms out front, and behind it the part you came for: a private heated pool edged in blue mosaic, set in a fenced garden with room for everyone to spread out.

Inside are cool travertine floors and new central air conditioning, which in Miami is not a small detail. It is a real house on a quiet residential street, not a rental built to look like one.

The pool and garden

The pool runs the width of the back garden, with curved mosaic steps at the shallow end and room to swim at the other. It is heated, so the cooler months don't close it. Loungers, a big umbrella and a row of colored Adirondack chairs sit on the travertine patio under the palms, and there is a grill for dinner outside.

The garden is fenced and hedged on both sides, so it is private without feeling closed in. Tropical flowers and orchids bloom there in rotation, so something is always out.

When the sun goes down, the screened porch is the place for quiet nights looking out over the pool.

Room to work, and to work out

The third bedroom doubles as a home office, and we mention it on purpose. It has a proper desk, a door that closes, and a full-size sofa bed for when it is a bedroom again. The internet is fiber, 500 Mbps up and down, so video calls and big uploads are not a problem. If someone in your party can't leave the laptop at home, they can work properly, then be in the pool a minute later.

The garage is air-conditioned and set up as a home gym, with a treadmill, a rower and TRX straps.

The peacocks

They are real, they are wild, and in spring they are loud at dawn. Peacocks have roamed this corner of South Miami for decades, and you will meet them on the swale, in the road and now and then on a car roof. Birders come for them on purpose, so keep a camera by the door.

Getting here

Miami International Airport is 12 miles away, about 25 minutes outside rush hour. You will want a car: Palmetto Bay is residential, and almost everything above is a short drive rather than a walk or a train ride. There is off-street parking for two cars in the driveway.

Accessibility

This is a private single-family home. It has not been adapted for guests who use a wheelchair or have limited mobility, and the pool is entered by steps. If anyone in your party has access needs, ask us before you request dates and we will answer plainly.
